Exercise reduces metabolic burden while altering the immune system in aged mice

چکیده
Although several evidence has suggested the impact of exercise on prevention aging phenotypes, few studies have been conducted mechanism by which alters immune-cell profile, thereby improving metabolism in senile obesity. In this study, we confirmed that 4-week treadmill sufficiently improved metabolic function, including increased lean mass and decreased fat mass, 88-week-old mice. The expression level senescence marker p16 white adipose tissue (WAT) was after 4-weeks exercise. Exercise induced changes profiles subsets, natural killer (NK) cells, central memory CD8+ T eosinophils, neutrophils, stromal vascular fraction WAT. addition, it shown through transcriptome analysis WAT can activate pathways involved interaction between immune particular NK aged These results suggest a profound effect distribution senescent-cell scavenging mice, eventually affecting overall energy toward more youthful state.

Analgesia in mice with experimental meningitis reduces pain without altering immune parameters.
Intracranial lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) infection is a widely used animal model to study virus-induced cytotoxic T cell (CTL) mediated meningitis and immunopathology. Nevertheless, this model causes severe pain and distress in mice, especially at later stages of the disease. Therefore, new treatment regimens to improve animal welfare have to be developed. In this study, we subcut...
متن کاملChronic exercise reduces hypothalamic transforming growth factor-β1 in middle-aged obese mice
Obesity and aging are associated with hypothalamic inflammation, hyperphagia and abnormalities in the thermogenesis control. It has been demonstrated that the association between aging and obesity induces hypothalamic inflammation and metabolic disorders, at least in part, through the atypical hypothalamic transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β1). Physical exercise has been used to modulate severa...
متن کاملCan exercise training improve immune function in the aged?
Many strategies have been used to improve immune function in the aged. Unfortunately, many of these interventions have been disappointing, impractical, costly to develop and administer, or accompanied by adverse side effects. Aside from dietary manipulation (caloric restriction without malnutrition or antioxidant supplementation), research involving behavioral preventative or restorative therap...
متن کاملPhotobiomodulation reduces gliosis in the basal ganglia of aged mice
This study explored the effects of long-term photobiomodulation (PBM) on the glial and neuronal organization in the striatum of aged mice. Mice aged 12 months were pretreated with PBM (670 nm) for 20 minutes per day, commencing at 5 months old and continued for 8 months. We had 2 control groups, young at 3 months and aged at 12 months old; these mice received no treatment. Brains were aldehyde-...
متن کاملMetabolic costs of mounting an antigen-stimulated immune response in adult and aged C57BL/6J mice.
Animals must balance their energy budget despite seasonal changes in both energy availability and physiological expenditures. Immunity, in addition to growth, thermoregulation, and cellular maintenance, requires substantial energy to maintain function, although few studies have directly tested the energetic cost of immunity. The present study assessed the metabolic costs of an antibody response...
